San Diego County is home to 3 of the nation’s priciest zip codes

It’s common knowledge that buying a home in San Diego is more expensive that many other regions but a new report puts into perspective just how pricey certain parts of the County can actually be. According to real estate tracker PropertyShark, San Diego County contains three of the nation’s most expensive areas to purchase a home including one entry in the top 20.

Rancho Santa Fe (92067) was ranked as eighteenth most expensive zip with a median sale price of $3.4 million. Coronado (92118) with median home sales at $1.94 million took the No. 63 spot and Del Mar (92014) was No. 74 nationwide with a median sales price of $1.85 million.

California accounted for 70 percent of the list with San Mateo County’s Atherton suburb topped the list for the fifth consecutive year with a median of $7.47 million.

Today, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 2.875 percent and 15-year rates are near 2.25 percent.
