The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in people staying inside their homes more than ever. For many city-dwellers, that means having limited access to outdoor living space or nature. To make up for the lack of outdoor time, more homeowners have been adding plants inside their homes, according to a new report. A recent study conducted by Cinch Home Services and reported by Realtor Magazine shows that the average person owns five houseplants.
The study also found that people with five or more houseplants are more likely to indicate feelings of happiness, satisfaction with their jobs, are more productive and creative. Those who identify themselves as highly extroverted tend to own more houseplants – 6.8 on average.
Among the most popular reasons for owning a plant, survey respondents cited wanting to have more greenery in their homes, aesthetics and décor and as a hobby.
Meanwhile, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 3.0 percent and 15-year rates are near 2.25 percent.
