U.S. residents split on which candidate will be better for housing
When asked their opinion of which presidential candidate will be better for the future of the housing market, Americans are nearly evenly split. Forty percent of U.S. residents believe that Donald Trump will be better for the housing market than Joe Biden, while a comparable 37 percent believe that Joe Biden will do more for housing than Donald Trump.

“Neither Republican nor Democratic presidents have solved the problem of housing costs rising faster than incomes,” said Redfin chief economist Daryl Fairweather. “But it should be encouraging that both candidates have brought up housing during their campaigns in recognition that housing policy is of national importance.”

According to a survey conducted by Redfin of over 3,000 U.S. adults homeowners tilt more towards Trump while renters seem to favor Biden.

Meanwhile, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 2.875 percent and 15-year rates are near 2.5 percent.
