Tom Hanks puts his movie home up for sale
The Airstream that actor Tom Hanks lived in while filming “Forrest Gump” and “Apollo 13” is up for sale at the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction as of last week. It’s estimated price is between $150,000 and $200,000. In statement the two-time Oscar winner said that the unit is a custom-built 33-foot Airstream and is being auctioned with his furniture inside and an autograph.

“I shan’t forget night shoots on Gump and The Green Mile with the windows open and the cool air coming in,” said Hanks in a press release. “Or the time Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton and I watched a Buster Keaton documentary on the TV – before running through the Forest Lawn cemetery in our Apollo 13 costumes to pay homage at his grave.”

After 30 years, Hanks states he is giving up his “home from home” because he has less down time on sets as the pace of movies is much faster than they used to be.
