With many Americans making the difficult choice to stay home in an attempt to “flatten the curve” as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, it could be time to tackle those improvement projects that have been on the to-do list for quite some time. Decluttering and organizing closets is often at the top of people’s chores when spring cleaning. Zillow Porchlight recently released some simple tips to transform your wardrobe in a single day.
The online real estate blog recommends starting by doing a purge of unneeded items. Rather than making painful cuts to your wardrobe choices, it may be easier to choose a couple of items each month and add them to a donation bag you keep in the closet. When the bag is full, it’s time to donate.
Another way to identify clothes that may be past their prime is by arranging your hangers in an unusual way. All hanging garments should be put in the closet backwards, so that the open end of each hanger faces you. Every time you wear an item and go to put it back, make sure the hanger faces the usual way. At the end of the year, examine the hangers still facing the opposite way and you’ll know which items are ready for purging.
