Agent, therapist, confidant and teacher. These are all words that homebuyers and sellers in the U.S. have used to describe their real estate agent according to new information. A survey from Century 21 reveals that a majority of people value and confide in their agents more than a therapist and know them better than their own neighbors.
On average, respondents say they only spoke to two agents before selecting the one who would guide them through the buying or selling process and 99 percent of homebuyers say they made the right choice.
In addition to showing the value agents add to the real estate industry, it may also disprove theories that online transactional home purchases and sales will eventually make the profession obsolete. Rather, it appears that real estate agents are here to stay.
Meanwhile, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 3.625 percent and 15-year rates are near 3.125 percent.
