‘Home Alone’ house hits rental market in time for holidays

The Winnetka, III., house showcased so beautifully in the 1990 classic “Home Alone” is hitting the short-term rental market this month. The home located in a Chicago suburb is being listed on Airbnb just as the latest installment of the movie franchise starts streaming on Disney+.

Complete with some of Kevin McCallister’s booby traps for guests to have fun with, the rental will feature Christmas décor and a candlelit macaroni and cheese dinner. Safe from bandits with sticky gloves, guests will rest comfortably in the large home with the exception of an interaction of a real tarantula.

Airbnb will launch a raffle to rent the home on December 7 and cost just $25 per night for the winners, plus taxes and fees. The short-term rental company has previously done promotional rentals at other famous properties including Carrie’s apartment from Sex and the City and Barbie’s Malibu Dream House.

Today, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 3.0 percent and 15-year rates are near 2.25 percent.
